Elena Sbrana

I was sent to a trial gymnastics class at age 5 and fell in love with the sport. I went on to be a competitive gymnast during high school and college, and then to coach gymnastics and martial arts for a few years afterward.
I love gymnastics because it is the image of strength and power in motion, and it builds skills that will translate to every aspect of life. Gymnastics gives you the power to overcome any challenge.
After a long break from the sport to pursue an academic career in medicine, I decided to study strength and conditioning and sports psychology and return to gymnastics. I joined Alpha Gymnastics as a team coach with the Xcel and JO teams. I am a very competitive person and I love helping young athletes follow their dreams, train, excel, and achieve great results!

Favorite Activity:
Dressage, tennis, cycling, hunting, shooting sports.

Favorite Skill or Event:
My favorite event is the balance beam - anything is possible when you are up there!
Favorite skills are the r/o layout step out mount and the flair mount (the Homma). The flair is rarely used in women's gymnastics, and it will make your FX and BB routine stand out from the crowd in every competition.

Favorite Food:
Southern fried chicken, hot and crispy like we make it in my home state of Texas!

Advice for students:
Olympic Champion Florence Griffith Joyner once said: "I believe in the impossible because no one else does". Her records still stand today.
Believe in your training, trust the process, and treasure the experience of making your dream into reality.
